A personal tour driver is one person who handles your whole trip on the ground. They drive, explain the history at each site, handle temple etiquette, translate at markets, choose lunch stops and adjust the route as you go.

In Sri Lanka, the SLTDA Chauffeur Tour Guide licence is the one that allows a single person to both drive and guide small groups of 1–7 people. Ask to see it when you book. A driver-only service handles transport but doesn't guide inside sites.
