Sri Lanka is a beautiful island with so many different types of things and many kinds of major and minor tourist attractions. Like every other country in the world, you must need a valid driving license from your home country and also a valid international driving permit (I.D.P) to rent a bike or car in Sri Lanka. road rules in Sri Lanka are bit more strict and every road don’t have different lines to drive. From push bike to a car every one drive in one track. As a tourist this is bit scared. Sometimes hiring scooter is very fun but make sure you always wear a helmet and have insurance covered.
Sri Lankan Currency.
Sri Lankan official currency is Rupees. Most places don’t accept international money. So better always keep some of Sri Lankan rupees and few of your international notes. Whenever you want change the money, better go to a bank .whenever you want to pay small amounts better keep Sri Lankan rupees because Euro or dollar always have higher value compared to local money.

Getting a sim card is easy and affordable and you don’t have to rely on Wi-Fi. You can get one even getting out of the Colombo airport. After you made money exchange, walk up to the tele communication company at the exit and give documents they ask for. Travel packages of cellular companies are quite convenient and have the best coverage. 1GB sim card can be purchased for around $3 with international and local credits.

The days you cannot get Alcohol.
In general, every traveler can get Alcohol in hotel’s bars or in the public liquor stores from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M. But there are some of specific dates that you can’t get them. Specially On full moon days ( Poya days) and government religious holidays , and some of election days, These days you are not able to get any Alcohol from the liquor stores or from your hotel. And please don’t try to get them on illegal way. It’s very strict and punishable. If you really need to have some Alcohol you are free to get them earlier day and have them inside your room.
